Use cases
Wherever two parties can disagree about the state of something, the proof has to exist before the disagreement.
Short-term rental: check-in and check-out, sealed
Our first use case is our own. ScanStay (scanstay.app), built by the same team as tryVidimus, runs the condition report of short-term rentals on it: before a guest arrives and after they leave, the host, the concierge or the cleaning staff photograph the property, and each set of photos is sealed.
When a host and a guest disagree about damage, the platform no longer relies on photos anyone could have edited or redated. It shows two proofs dated by a third party: one from before the stay, one from after.
The stay, step by step
- Before check-in: the host, the concierge or the cleaning staff opens a link on their phone and takes the requested photos, room by room. The proof is sealed within seconds.
- After check-out: the same flow, with the same list of shots. This second proof is linked to the first as its "after".
- No app to install: the capture page opens in the phone's browser and carries the platform's brand. Photos are taken live with the camera; picking a file from the gallery is not possible.
- In a disagreement: the two proofs are put side by side, each with its eIDAS qualified timestamp and its C2PA signature. We do not judge the damage: the proofs show what was captured and when, and the parties weigh them.
- Verification: each proof has a public link that the guest, the host or an insurer opens without an account, and that anyone can check with our open-source verifier.
On the platform side: a few API calls
Short-term rental platforms, concierge services and property managers can build the same flow.
- POST /v1/capture-sessions creates the check-in capture and returns the link to send to the host or the cleaning staff.
- The proof.sealed webhook tells the platform when the proof is ready.
- At check-out, a second capture session with compare_to set to the check-in proof. It reuses the same capture template, so at least as many photos are asked for, shot by shot.
- Test mode is free, with simulated timestamps: the whole flow can be built and tried before going live.
Other uses, same API
Each time, the same pair of proofs: the state before, the state after, both dated by a third party.
- Vehicles: pickup and return of cars, campervans, boats or scooters.
- Equipment: cameras, drones, tools or outdoor gear handed from one person to the next.
- Parcels and resale: what went into the box, proven before it ships.
